Brigette keeps her feedback specific and, most importantly, keeps it positive and encouraging. I’m actually excited to edit, and I never thought I could say that!

The need for editing is obvious. If you’re self-publishing, you don’t want to release a book with plot holes, too little conflict, awkwardly phrased sentences, or errors in grammar and punctuation. If you’re seeking an agent to pursue traditional publication, those weaknesses can consign your manuscript to the slush pile.
The benefits of coaching are less obvious, but can be just as significant. If you never finish your book, there’s nothing to edit, nothing to submit to agents, nothing to publish. And the sad fact is that a lot of aspiring novelists never reach those two glorious words, The End.
Not every writer trips over the same obstacles, but most of us get derailed by something at some point in our writing lives. Coaching can help you identify why you aren’t writing consistently and productively. Sometimes simply having a coach who’s waiting for your pages is enough to overcome those impediments and excuses.

I liked my book before I sent it to Brigette. After receiving her feedback and making the suggested edits, I absolutely love my book.

No matter where you are in your writing journey, I offer a free sample edit of 1,000 words
and a 15 minute follow up Zoom call to see if we’re a good fit.
I’ve pushed through to THE END and completed three novels, received feedback, revised, pitched and queried agents. I’ve had requests for partial or full manuscripts from multiple literary agents. The novel for which I’m seeking representation is a finalist in both the Women’s Fiction Writers Association (WFWA) 2020 Rising Star Award, and the Tall Poppy Writers 2020 Popstar Writing Contest. I currently serve as Workshop Chair for the WFWA.
I have a Ph.D. in history from the University of Southern California. As a teacher (K-12 and university), an editor in various government jobs, a private consultant, a participant in writing groups and workshops, and a critique partner, I’ve provided feedback to hundreds of writers. Read what some of them have to say about my editing and manuscript evaluation.
